Gospel
WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?
The Gospel is good news!
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but that the world through him might be saved.”
(John 3:17)
We learn from the Bible that we have all sinned (disobeyed God’s laws) and as a result, we fall short of His perfect standard (Romans 3:23). Our sin is what separates us from a Holy God and there is nothing we can do to earn our way to heaven (Titus 3:5). However, because of His great love towards each one of us, we can be saved from our sin by putting our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ who paid the penalty for our sins by dying on the cross.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
The Lord Jesus was the only one who could save us from the consequences of our sins. Being sinless, His sacrificial death for our sins on the cross was acceptable to God. Three days later, He rose again from the dead and was seen by hundreds of believers, before returning to heaven.
“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”
(Romans 6:23).
“Preach the Good News—not in wisdom of words, so that the cross of Christ wouldn’t be made void. For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are dying, but to us who are saved, it is the power of God. …seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom didn’t know God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe.”
